Broom - Broom finished concrete is standard concrete you find on sidewalks and some driveways. It's called broom because once the concrete partially cures a concrete broom is drug across to create a slightly rough slip free finish. Broom is the least expensive finish and best where traction is important. Aggregate - This type of finish has pebbles / rock showing through. It's more decorative than broom but has a slightly slippery surface. Aggregate is common in new construction. Slick Trowel - Typically used on garage floors and basements. A machine is used to bring the floor to a super smooth finish. This finish is recommended for indoor use only because once it becomes wet it can be very slippery. Polished - Polished floors are typically stained with one or more colors and brought to a mirror like finish. Stamp - Typically found in more expensive homes. Stamp concrete can resemble brick, cobblestone or hundreds of other patterns and colors. Concrete is first poured, color is added, then a rubber matt is laid over the concrete with a release agent to mimic the stone of your choice. If you want strength, beauty, and durability, stamp is the right choice for you. Stained - Staining involves using one or more colors applied to an existing concrete finish. A very popular pattern resembles a marbelized finish as shown in some of our sample photos. Saw cuts and patterns can be put into the concrete to give a very high end finish that is extremely durable. This is an excellent choice for high traffic areas or basements. |
